John Cleese on creativity

I've always been a fan of John Cleese and the Python crew. Cleese did numerous corporate videos awhile back if memory serves. He's pragmatic, sharp as a tack and his advice is bang on.

There are subtitles, so you know it must be good.

Graphic Novel Course Powerpoint Slides

Selection of slides for an OCAD course on sequential art I taught a few years ago. Just meant to get across and emphasize basic concepts. Clear, direct, and to the point.

Bombers vs. Mega-Volcano!

In 1944, Vesuvius erupted again. American pilots, on their way to bomb the Germans, took pictures. It makes for an impressive spectacle, and reminds us of the terrible power nature can unleash.

The lava flow from 1944 can still be seen today.

Today, at the top of this mighty, slumbering engine of pure destruction, is a gift shop.

American bombers attack Vesuvius in March, 1944. Okay, kidding. But it will be a movie on Syfy soon.
Ash covered planes on the nearby airfields.
The lava flow from 1944. You can see Naples in the distance.
Crowds and American servicemen (right) gather to watch the eruption.
Inside of the crater today. Still smokes.

Wealth inequality in America

Interesting video. Increasing wealth polarization is generally unhealthy for a society. But super rich people aren't a problem; it's when rich elites twist and tilt the system to perpetuate their position of dominance that causes societies to stagnate and calcify. An open, level playing field is what we need, and should push towards.

Cutie Pie Sunday

You can see why these two were drawn to each other.

Of course, today is Saturday.
